Carnforth Attractions

Carnforth’s Visitor Centre reopened in October 2003 after being restored. Travel to the Visitor Centre where you will find beautiful, historic building that feature a wealth of attractions, facilities and exhibitions. Your travel to Carnforth will show you the place where the famous film by David Lean titled “Brief Encounter” starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard was set. The Carnforth Visitor Centre has been restored to showcase the clock at the station and the famous Milford Junction from the movie. In addition, the café has been newly constructed to resemble the one in the film and is now open for business.

Nearby Carnforth is the splendid home of the Gillow furniture making family, Leighton Hall. Travel to this magnificent attraction for local weddings and corporate events featuring Gothic towers and fields of beautiful gardens as far as the eyes can see, thousands of visitors travel to this attraction year after year to view the Leighton family dynasty treasures. Nestled in a mound of English Lake District hills, just outside of Carnforth, Leighton Hall provides a picturesque view for weddings, ceremonies and education outings. If you plan to travel to Carnforth, Leighton Hall is open to the public from May to September. Pre-booking is provided for groups and private parties who are welcomed all year round.

During your travel to Carnforth, you may choose to visit the Carnforth War Memorial, which is located in the heart of town. This memorial dedicated in remembrance to the veterans of World Wars I and II and was first unveiled in 1924 and stands in memory of the soldiers who were lost during the battles that were fought throughout Europe during these tragic events. The people of Carnforth take great pride in their War Memorial and should you happen to travel here please visit and pay tribute and respect to those who have lost their lives defending the honour of so many others.
